On May 5, 2007, Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation Secretary, MSgt. Jay Renwick presented Angalene Snipes, the fiancée' of LCpl. Dennis James Veater with three $10,000 US Savings Bonds issued in her son Dominick's name. His Father, LCpl. Dennis Veater died from wounds suffered during combat operations in Al Anbar Province, Iraq on March 9, 2007. It was at his memorial service that his fiancée'Angalene, family, friends and fellow Marines from MWSS 472 Detachment A in Wyoming, Pa came together for a final salute to this fallen Marine.
In his introductory remarks, MSgt. Renwick explained the mission of the Foundation and that upon maturity the bonds would be used to offset the cost of Dominick's education. A very special gift of generosity was detailed in the letter presented to Angalene that the bonds were funded through the compassion and caring of Mr. John Spedden Streep and were aptly designated the John Spedden Streep Special Scholarship. Mr. Streep's continuous and unwavering dedication to the Foundation has been a true testimony to this family in their time of sorrow.
“On behalf of the children we serve” —the motto of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation was truly evident on May 5, 2007 when you looked at Dominick Veater, son of LCpl. Dennis James Veater, United States Marine. One can only believe that through the generosity of John Streep and the Foundation coupled with the support and strength of Dominick's family and the United States Marine Corps that the bravery, dedication and love for family and Country exhibited by his father will follow Dominick throughout his life's journey.
